*AF/day appears only when the entire flow was captured and operating hours were entered. Blank means volume is unknown; a weekly reading alone cannot establish annual acre-feet.

3-trial stopwatch

Start when water enters the bucket. Stop at the 5-gallon mark; the result fills the next trial automatically.

Estimated diverted volume for the sampled day—acre-feet (AF) · only with verified full flow and operating hours

The three raw times and their average are saved. Corrections are recorded in the JSON audit trail. This tool does not certify measurement accuracy or submit filings.

Older one-time readings from earlier TKV versions are retained as legacy 1-trial records and are never presented as 3-trial measurements.

Yearly printable water records

Choose calendar year or California water year (October 1–September 30). The printed packet contains the selected locations, each raw stopwatch trial, the calculated average, observer, date and time, and monthly summaries.

Field guide · How to use this tracker

1
Prepare the bucket and measuring point.

Use a known, marked 5-US-gallon volume. Check that the container can safely catch the full flow without spillover or bypass. The California guide describes this method for steady, low-flow conditions, generally up to about 50 GPM.

2
Choose location, date, and observer.

Select Fay Creek, Hotspring, or a newly added location. Observers are maintained under OneDrive & settings. TKV's local schedule is every Monday; additional sampling may be needed under the applicable water-right rules.

3
Take three separate timed fills.

Start the stopwatch as filling begins; stop when it reaches the marked level. Empty/reset safely and repeat for trials 2 and 3. You may also enter measured seconds manually if the phone cannot be used at the diversion point.

4
Review the average and field notes.

The tracker computes average seconds = (trial 1 + trial 2 + trial 3) ÷ 3, then GPM = 60 × gallons ÷ average seconds. For a verified full-flow diversion, estimated AF = GPM × 60 × actual hours ÷ 325,851.43. An AF/hour figure is only a rate equivalent; it is not the volume diverted until time is accounted for. Record unusual variation, weather, bypass, and daily operating hours.

5
Save to your OneDrive-synced JSON file.

On a laptop with Edge or Chrome, connect the JSON file stored in the local OneDrive folder. Each save updates that selected file. On mobile, offline field entries can be kept as a local browser draft, but export JSON to OneDrive after each field round; browser security may prevent direct file writes.

6
Review the month and print the year.

The one-month history appears beside the measurement form. Use Yearly records to select a water year or calendar year, print a signed paper packet, or choose Save as PDF in the browser's print dialog.

7
Manage measuring locations on the map.

Open Map & locations to add a new site. At the actual measurement point, use device GPS with location permission, enter a surveyed latitude/longitude, or choose an online map position. Confirm the GPS accuracy and press Save location. Map tiles require internet; saved coordinates can be viewed or edited offline.

8
Keep permits and supporting evidence together.

Use Permits & documents to register a water-right record, calibration or measurement document, field photo, or agency correspondence. Link a OneDrive HTTPS document URL, or embed a small PDF/photo into the JSON. Print the document register when needed and keep original records in secure OneDrive storage.

OneDrive · master JSON records

Keep tkv-water-diversions.json in a locally synced OneDrive folder and open that file here using Chrome or Edge on a computer. This is a single offline HTML document; there is no back-end account or server storing your readings.

Local draft. Not connected to JSON.

Permits, maps, and registered documents are stored in the same JSON. On mobile devices, export a backup after the field round and upload it to OneDrive. The app also keeps a local browser draft as a recovery convenience. Clearing browser data can remove it. Keep OneDrive and offline backups for long-term records.

Field observers · dropdown choices

Add the names of crew members who measure flow. Names are saved in the same JSON file.

Water measurement sites · details

Add new measuring locations and GPS markers in Map & locations. Existing locations and historical records are preserved when sites are archived.

Records and quality

Entries are saved with three original times, calculated averages, observer, site, date, and an audit history of corrections/deletions. If prior JSON files have one-time readings, they remain labeled legacy instead of being silently upgraded to a three-trial measurement.
